This painting was done post brain op; I impressed myself, and friends & family, with the speed at which I have recovered.
Once I found out that I could paint, I unrolled the roll of canvas I had waiting, and cut a large piece to stick to the wall.
This was a tough one to start ... the operation was a success and I was enjoying stillness, and sleep.
Underneath are the words SEIZURE FREEDOM and some doodles, then I had a go at one of the many bouquets of flowers that I'd been sent. Thank you to all who sent flowers, but it was my godmother's bouquet of carnations that I chose to paint. You'll find them in one of the layers underneath! Then once some colour was on the canvas I went wild with paint and literally covered the canvas with my hands. In this heat it didn't take long to dry so I could get back to it before the energy had gone, adding more colours, and scratching through to reveal some colour from the carnations underneath.
Painted in artist grade acrylic paint, this multimedia abstract painting is on canvas.
It's signed and named on the reverse, with ASPEN in gold acrylic on the front.
Currently unmounted, I have sent off for a stretcher bar set and will construct a solid framework, and turn it into a sturdy 40" x 40" canvas that is ready to be hung on the wall.
I have decided to gift it to The National Hospital For Neurology And Neurosurgery as a "Thank You"
(coinciding with 75 years of the hospital's existence).
